Indiana Robotics Invitational

The Duluth East Daredevils are excited to announce that we will be attending the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI) from July 17-18. This is an invite-only event consisting of the season’s top teams based on their solo rankings.

In addition to being an exclusive event, teams will play an alternate version of this season’s game, Recycle RUSH+. Instead of the usual ten recycling canisters, (three in each Autonomous Zone and two on each side in the middle or “Landfill Zone”) this version will use 16 (three in each Autonomous Zone, and four in the Landfill Zone). This will allow alliances to increase the value of their tote stacks, and thus end each match with a higher total.

After planning to someday apply for the event over the past few summers, we finally did and were accepted! We are excited to be attending for the first time and maybe more in the future.

While we will be attending the event, our fundraising is still going on! Make sure to visit Chipotle by the Duluth Miller Hill Mall between 4:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and mention our “one for the team” fundraiser so that 50% of your total bill will support both the Team and the trip. Just click for more information.

Chipotle 50% Donation Night

Come to Chipotle by the Duluth Miller Hill Mall tomorrow, July 15, to help support our much anticipated trip to the Indiana Robotics Invitational! In this generous “one for the team” fundraiser, just present the attached flyer in either physical or digital form from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and they will donate 50% of your total bill to our team! But wait, there’s more good news; if you forget to show the flyer all together, you can still help as long as you remember to mention the fundraiser to the cashier upon paying your bill. Limited to one flyer/donation per bill, flyer need not be present at time of purchase.

Visit Facebook for flyer.

March to the Arch Fundraiser

The Daredevils will be hosting a pasta dinner and silent auction on April 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Duluth East High School atrium. This event will be the kick off for our fundraising campaign to fund our trip to the FIRST World Championship in St. Louis, MO. Tickets are available at the the door at $8 per single or $20 for families. Each meal includes pasta, salad, bread, and a beverage. Vegetarian options are also available. There will also be a bake sale and a chance to control one of our robots that has competed at the World Championship in the past.

Hope to see you there!

Together, we hope to reach our total goal of $30,000 through both individual donations and public fundraising events. Thank you for your support!

Relay for Life

Please come and see us, or even participate in the overnight Relay for Life walk July 18 at the College of St. Scholastica. The event will be starting at 6:00 p.m. and we will be presenting on stage at 8:30 p.m. with our robots. Participants will also be allowed to interact with the robots using the controls along with a donation to the American Cancer Society! There will be food, games, and activities for everyone. Make sure to come check it out and support the fight against cancer!

Help us help the American Cancer Society by making a donation directly to our team. You can donate to our team in person, or digitally through our team page by clicking here. For more information about Relay, click here.

Kent Christianson Benefit Fundraiser

Thursday, August 7, there will be a benefit fundraiser/memorial at Skyline Bowling Lanes off Miller Trunk Highway for Kent Christianson of Fastline Graphix. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. there will be a taco bar, raffle, and silent auction. Tickets are $10.00 and all proceeds will go to Kent’s medical expenses.
Kent had always been a major contributor of the Daredevils with graphics for our robot and trailer since 2012. We are appreciative of any and all support provided for his family.

Kent’s Story:
Kent developed a pneumonia-like infection which severely damaged his lungs. Kent later passed away at the U of M Hospital while recovering from a double lung transplant. Kent’s family needs our help in covering his medical expenses.

Tickets can be purchased at Skyline Lanes, Troys Amoco, Accurate Auto Repair, or by email request; kentchristiansonbenefit@gmail.com. For any questions, contact (218) 393-3804.

Cash donations can be made directly to Kent Christianson Benefit Fund, US Bank, or by electronic deposit at www.fundly.com.

Fourth of July

Looking for something fun and family friendly this Fourth? Then come to the Duluth Huskies baseball game! We will be there face painting, demonstrating our robots, shooting foam baseballs, and fundraising. And of course, there will be fireworks! Also, for those of you who didn’t know, together we raised $200.00 for CHUM at the Rhubarb Festival this past weekend!

Save Glossy Paper, Help Build a Robot!

Help us spread robotics by bringing us your glossy paper!
This is a year round fundraiser for our team which you can support by saving your glossy paper, bringing it to Duluth East High School, and placing it in the dumpster behind the school stadium. Shiny paper includes all glossy coated magazines, ads, playbills/programs, and posters. Thanks for supporting the Daredevils!
