What time are you planning to start the Kickoff program on Jan 6? The live stream starts at 9:30AM Central time and we are trying to determine what time our team needs to arrive.

My name is Claire Pernat, and in high school, I was on FRC team 4207 Pyrobotics based out of Holy Family Catholic High School in Victoria, MN. Now, I am a junior at Tufts University in Massachusetts who is mentoring FRC team 125 the NUTRONs. First off, I would like to say congratulations for making it to the Detroit Championship Event! It is always so fun to see all of the MN teams there!

I wanted to reach out to your team to see if anyone on your team (mentor, student, alum) is interested in mental health awareness in the FIRST community? If so, can you pass this information on to them?

I am involved with an initiative created by the Compass Alliance ( called Hear For You. Hear For You is working to end the stigma around mental health and create a culture of awareness, understanding, and empathy in the FIRST community. The goal is to make mental health wellness as comfortable and as common of a topic as safety among students, teachers, coaches, mentors, volunteers, and event staff. During this past competition season, we have provided information and implemented programming at New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Australia events, and we have had a lot of positive feedback from students, mentors, parents, and event staff.

We are looking at expanding Hear For You across the world, and we need your help! If you would like to get involved with promoting mental health awareness in the FIRST community or would like to contribute your thoughts on the best way to promote mental health awareness in the FIRST community, please fill out this Google Form: It should only take a couple of minutes to complete, and your responses would be greatly appreciated!

As someone who was born and raised in Minnesota, it would be wonderful to see Minnesota FIRST step up to help end mental health stigma in the FIRST community. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have or provide you with more information about Hear For You. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
